The most noticeable feature of this product is the rotating blade design. During operation, the operating mechanism drives the main shaft, causing the conductive knife to move up and down in a vertical plane to open or close the circuit. This design allows the stationary contacts to be typically mounted at the top of the busbar chamber in the cell, with the movable blade rotating downward to connect to the conductors of the bottom cable chamber, which is especially useful when used as a busbar isolation switch within the cell, providing clear separation of the upper and lower functional units.

Once opened, the GN24-12 creates a visible air gap that meets safety standards, providing visible protection when servicing equipment. Its structure is robust, its insulation performance is excellent, the drive torque is optimal, and it can be used in conjunction with earthing switches to provide safe mechanical interlocking operation. It is a classic choice for implementing busbar insulation in enclosed metal switchgears such as medium voltage cabinet type KYN28.
