The isolation switch inside the complete high-voltage cabinet (commonly called "knife disconnector") is the main insulating electrical device installed inside the high-voltage cabinets such as KYN28, XGN15 and others. Its main function is to safely disconnect or connect a circuit in the absence of current, creating a clearly visible breaking point, providing reliable electrical isolation and safety during maintenance and testing of high-voltage equipment (e.g. circuit breakers, current transformers).
This product usually has a three-phase synchronous rotating or retractable structure and is composed of a conductive blade, a fixed contact, a support insulator and a control mechanism. Its design is precisely matched to the cabinet design and is necessarily equipped with a reliable mechanical interlocking device, which ensures the sequence of operations: “first open the circuit breaker, then operate the isolation switch”, completely eliminating the risk of erroneous switching of the disconnector under load.
The cabinet's internal blade disconnector has high dynamic and thermal stability and can withstand short-term short-circuit current. The visible insulation gap opened by air complies with the requirements of electrical safety regulations. With reliable interlocking, easy operation and good insulating ability, it is an indispensable safety element in high-voltage complete devices.
