With global distribution networks accelerating towards smart and green technologies, power generation equipment faces severe challenges, especially in challenging geographic environments such as high latitudes and altitudes. QIAONASEN, following the global trend of energy changes, introduces a new generation of switching units (RMU) for voltage classes 12-40.5 kV. This solution not only perfectly complies with the standards of power grids of Russian-speaking countries and Europe, but also provides reliable protection for wind, solar energy and urban power supply due to its characteristics: “maintenance-free, resistance to extreme cold, complete insulation.”
Extreme cold resistance: built for challenging climates
When developing for foreign markets, including Russian-speaking countries, QIAONASEN placed emphasis on increasing the adaptability of equipment to the environment. The new generation of RMUs use specially designed drive mechanisms and lubrication systems that have undergone rigorous testing at low temperatures, which guarantees reliable on/off operation even at -40°C and below, eliminating mechanism jamming caused by severe frosts.
The case is made using completely sealed welding technology, the degree of protection reaches IP67. This effectively withstands heavy snowfall and freezing rain in regions such as Siberia, and also keeps internal components completely dry and clean in harsh conditions (dust storms, high humidity). This significantly reduces the frequency of field inspections, meeting the overseas market's requirement for "maintenance-free, highly reliable" operation.
Environmentally friendly: alternative using dry air and nitrogen
In response to tightening global greenhouse gas regulations (such as the EU F-gas regulation), QIAONASEN's new RMU accelerates the phase-out of traditional SF6 gas. We offer two technological options: insulation with environmentally friendly gas (dry air/N₂) and solid insulation.
Zero Carbon: Use dry air or a mixture with nitrogen (N₂) as an insulating medium. The global warming potential (GWP) approaches zero, which helps clients achieve green certification of projects.
Adaptation to low temperatures: Solves the problem of liquefaction of traditional SF6 gas at low temperatures, which leads to deterioration of insulating properties, ensuring gas pressure stability in extreme cold conditions.
Intelligent IoT: Distribution Automation
In response to the smart grid needs of overseas markets, this series RMU is equipped with an intelligent measurement and control unit (DTU). It supports the IEC 61850 protocol and has the functions of “four remote operations” (remote control, measurement, alarm, regulation).
Quick damage detection: When a line fault occurs, the system captures the waveform in tens of milliseconds and transmits the data via 5G/fiber to a cloud-based management system, helping dispatchers remotely isolate the fault and restore power, reducing recovery time from hours to minutes.
Predictive Maintenance: Thanks to AI analysis of big data (temperature/humidity inside the cabinet, mechanical characteristics of the switch), the system can warn of potential problems in advance, turning “reactive maintenance” into “proactive” maintenance.
Application prospects
The solution is already widely used in renewable energy grid connection projects (wind/solar), industrial parks and urban distribution network upgrades. Thanks to its compact modular design (the width can be reduced to 500 mm), it not only saves valuable cable duct space, but also flexibly adapts to future growth in electrical loads.
QIAONASEN aims to become the world's leading power distribution solutions provider. We invite partners from Russian-speaking countries and from all over the world to jointly discuss the deep application of smart, green and highly reliable switching devices in digital power grids.
