The Duck-Type Voltage Metering Withdrawable Unit is a withdrawable high-voltage functional unit specifically designed for metal enclosed switchgear with withdrawable element (such as the widely used KYN28A-12 switchgear). It received its name due to the design of the movable contact of the primary circuit, made in the form of a “duck beak” (or “flat contact of the duck beak type”). This cart integrates voltage transformers (VTs, also referred to as TVs), protective fuses and other components and is mainly used for accurate three-phase voltage measurement in power systems, providing signals for metering circuits, relay protection and insulation monitoring.

Its main advantage is that, thanks to the modular design of the duck-beak contacts and the withdrawable trolley itself, safe insulation is achieved, convenient racking in and out of the voltage transformer unit, which makes repair, maintenance and replacement of equipment safe, simple and effective and significantly reduces the time of interruptions in power supply.
